Description
This research project investigates the evolutionary pathways of ‘Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy (NVP)’, a mechanism traditionally interpreted as a defense against dietary toxins, by moving beyond the established Profet hypothesis. This research is particularly relevant as modern clinical and evolutionary evidence suggests more complex maternal-fetal interactions than classical models assume. The aim is to critique existing adaptationist frameworks and explore new evolutionary directions that better account for the physiological and cross-cultural complexities of NVP.
