Description
This research project delves into the ethnoecology of the Mikea, an indigenous hunter-gatherer community in Madagascar, with a specific focus on the Mikea Forest. The project aims to understand how the Mikea’s traditional ecological knowledge and practices are intricately linked to their environment, particularly in the context of their subsistence strategies. By exploring the Mikea’s hunting and gathering techniques, as well as their relationship with the forest ecosystem, the research seeks to highlight the delicate balance between cultural heritage and environmental sustainability. This study is especially pertinent as the Mikea Forest faces increasing threats from deforestation and climate change.
