This research project investigates the influence of the ‘behavioral immune system,’ a mechanism aimed at avoiding infectious diseases, on the perception of facial attractiveness based on whether or not a mask is worn. This research is particularly relevant in the aftermath of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The aim is to examine changes in cognitive perception and emotional behavioral responses towards faces in various conditions of infectious disease risk in Madagascar.
